Discovery : Twin Wild

I think this was the fastest I’ve ever fallen in love with a band in my life so far ! I discovered them one morning when I was looking up the concerts happening that night, and I saw that this band was playing the Backstage By The Mill, a venue that I love, so I thought I’d listen to a few of their songs. And to my big surprise, without knowing anything about them, I literally loved every one of their songs (they haven’t released a lot). I thus proceeded to getting a ticket for the same night and I didn’t regret it at all !

Twin Wild is a british four-piece formed in 2012, they released their self-produced first single « Fears » in 2014, followed by two EPs in 2016 and 2017. Apart for acoustic sessions, they have only released one new song in 2018, and I am patiently waiting for new content !

As for their style, they are apparently often compared to Bastille but I really don’t agree (apart for the similarity of the singers’ voices), and also to Biffy Clyro, but once again I don’t really see the resemblance. Personally, I would tend to compare them to a band like Nothing But Thieves. They play a very modern, clean and ethereal rock carried by the distorsion of the electric guitar in harmony with the intensity the singer incorporates in his voice (his vocal range is actually pretty impressive !). I would even go as far as to say some of their song are kind of sensual/sexy because of the way the frontman sings in association with the intensity of the guitar solos. Overall, I think they really succeeded in creating their own sound, but I admit that I also found their melodies really catchy et that’s what instantly got me !
